The gin is flowing, the Demis Roussos is spinning on the record player and the cheesy pineapple sticks are out in force. It’s 1977, and Beverly is hosting the neighbours for a ‘friendly’ little get-together. What could possibly go wrong?
As the social graces slip and the tensions rise, Mike Leigh’s iconic play descends into a hilariously cringe-inducing masterclass in suburban warfare — awkward, uncomfortable and devastatingly funny.
